Chapter 3: Computers are made from tiny switches called transistors

This chapter contains 12 pages and begins with some basic chemistry, talking about the periodic table as it relates to semiconductors, and how a transistor works. Transistors are used to build INVERTER, NAND, and NOR gates which are the 3 basic building blocks of all digital computers along with a simple memory cell. A plumbing-water analogy is provided throughout.
